Antidepressants Side Effects.
Antidepressants and side effects go hand-in-hand. It is estimated
that over 95 percent of patients taking antidepressants will
experience side effects. Some antidepressants side effects like
dry mouth, blurred vision, foggy thinking are an annoyance. Other
antidepressants side effects are deadly.
Suicidal thoughts, gestures (typically cutting of the body),
attempts and actual death by suicide are side effects of
antidepressants in the SSRI family. After over a decade of studies
showing a connection between antidepressants and increased suicide
risks, the FDA this year issued a warning for Prozac, Paxil,
Zoloft, Effexor, Celexa, Remeron, Lexapro, Luvox, Serzone and
Wellbutrin. This FDA warning states that these antidepressants can
cause suicide, violence and deepened depression.
Additionally, toxicity leading to neurological disorders like
Parkinson’s Disease, mania and seizure disorders have been linked
to antidepressants side effects.
Sexual side effects are a common side effects of antidepressants.
One recent study showed that up to 70 percent of patients taking
SSRI antidepressants reported sexual side effects including
delayed ejaculation and inability to achieve or maintain erection
in men, inability to achieve an orgasm in women, and decreased sex
drive, an inability to get aroused and non-existent libidos in
both sexes.
Weight gain is also another common antidepressants side effect.
All antidepressants slow the metabolism and inhibit specific
enzymes in the liver that allow the metabolism to function
correctly. Many antidepressants also increase appetite and
carbohydrate cravings. Antidepressants are also shown to cause
hormonal changes, which can further add to weight gain.
Withdrawal, another common antidepressant side effect, can occur
even on small dosages. Over 50 different symptoms have been
reported with antidepressant withdrawal, with dizziness nausea,
fatigue, headache, gait instability and insomnia the most common.
Visual hallucinations, anorexia, aggression, confusion and
suicidal thoughts are more severe withdrawal symptom side effects.
Antidepressants side effects that are most common are weight gain,
sexual side effects, excessive daytime drowsiness, blurred vision,
nausea, dry mouth, dizziness and excessive perspiration are the
most common side effects reported with antidepressants.
Common antidepressant drugs work artificially to selectively
enhance and mimic Serotonin activity within the brain, but
unfortunately cause a number of unwanted side-effects which can
lead to serious long-term problems. On the other hand, Deprex is
completely safe and can naturally enhance Serotonin levels within
the body and brain without side-effects.
Deprex will not interfere with prescription drugs. Because of its
nutritive value and micro-nutritional counterpart, Deprex may
safely be used conjointly with other antidepressant medications,
actually enhancing the effectiveness of other drug use. A
therapeutic strategy involving Deprex with other drugs, or as a
replacement strategy, is the sole discretion of the individual and
their health care provider. In all cases of clinical depression,
always seek a your health care provider's guidance first;
intervention without is not recommended.
