Catechol is the direct precursor of catecholamines,
a group of neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters are nerve cell
chemicals that act as messengers in the brain and nervous
system. The brain is the "command center" of the human body that
controls thoughts, emotions and actions. Researchers studying
depression and other mood disorders tend to look at several
aspects of brain function, including the function of
neurotransmitters.
Without adequate amount of neurotransmitters
and adequate communication between the cells, it is believed
that problems like depression, Attention Deficit Disorder,
stress and anxiety can occur.
There are over 200 different types of
neurotransmitters. The four major groups of neurotransmitters
are acetylcholine, monomamines, amino acids, and peptides. The
monoamine group is further divided into two subsets: the
catecholamines (dopamine, norepinephrine, epinephrine,
histamine) and serotonin. One theory states that depression is
due to a deficiency of catecholamines.
We believe in the body's ability to heal itself when given the proper
nutrition. The highly specific formulas were developed around that logic to
offer solutions for many of life's health challenges.
