OptiZinc is an antioxidant made by Interhealth Co. in California
that is made up of a combination of Zinc and Methionine. This
supercharged zinc is shown to far surpass the abilities of common vitamin antioxidants, such as
A, E, and C. It helps to regulate protein synthesis and boost the immune system.
The methionine in OptiZinc is thought to keep fat from building
up in the liver and is often included in liver detoxification
products.
Zinc is a
trace element that is very essential. Every cell in the body relies on zinc in
one way or another. The human body does not produce zinc on its own but is
available in drinking water and certain foods. Although zinc is readily
available, a high rate of adults do not get enough zinc. There is also evidence
that providing the body extra zinc during cold and flu seasons could help fight
some cold and flu symptoms. Zinc also helps with speeding up the healing process
for canker sores and sore throats. Zinc can promote a strong immune system by
revitalizing the thymus gland and the production of white blood cells. Zinc can
also provide relief
from autoimmune diseases like lupus, fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis.
Other benefits of Zinc include:
Promoting the healing of
skin wounds, eczema, rosacea, burns and other body
irritations. Zinc is involved in the repairing of the top
layer of skin.
Treating eye problems.
Zinc boosts the effectiveness of Vitamin A which is the
nutrient well known for its role in keeping the eyes
healthy.
Treating hormone-related
infertility problems. Zinc helps to promote proper cell
division in women. In men it is necessary for adequate
testosterone levels and sperm count.
A number of studies point to an association
between zinc deficiency and the symptoms of Attention Deficit
Disorder and ADHD.
A 1996 study, published in the Journal of Child Psychology and
Psychiatry, revealed a significant correlation between zinc and
fatty acids, in that both were decreased in children displaying
the symptoms of Attention Deficit Disorder and ADHD.
In looking for dietary causes of ADD/ADHD, an Ohio State
University found a relationship between zinc deficiency and
response to stimulant medicine (such as Ritalin) among people
with the symptoms of Attention Deficit Disorder and ADHD.
We believe in the body's ability to heal itself when given the proper
