Cucumber Cold Cream - A
cold
cream
that leaves your skin
feeling and looking radiant.
Cucumber cold cream is a 100
percent natural way to beautify your skin without harsh cleansers or perfumes.
1 oz. White beeswax
7 Tbsp. Light mineral oil
1 1/2 tsp. Borax
2 Tbsp. Rose water
2 Tbsp. Fresh cucumber juice (see below)
To Make This Cucumber Cold Cream:
Make cucumber juice beforehand (see below). Grate wax and heat it with oil in
double boiler until well blended. At the same time, dissolve borax in rose water
and heat to near boiling. Remove both pots from heat at the same time and
stirring constantly, add water solution slowly to blended oil and wax. When
combined, beat vigorously until cool. Add cucumber juice. Beat and put your cold
cream into
jars.
To make cucumber juice for your cold cream: cut up half a cucumber (unpeeled and clean) and blend in
a blender or food processor until liquified. Heat the liquid -gently boil- then
strain through a mesh nylon stocking. Refrigerate any leftover juice and use
later as a wash.
Note: Cooking cold creams is probably one of the easiest things in the world to do
but if you like things perfectly clear do this: buy two inexpensive candy
thermometers; put one in double boiler with the wax-oil part of the cream; put the
other in the pan containing the water. When both thermometers reach 160 degrees,
remove from the heat and proceed as directed.
Creams and lotions are made by combining
oil-based, which provide nourishing properties, and water-based ingredients to
moisturize the skin. Creams, such as the cucumber cold cream, and lotions are the only skin care applications that
moisturize and nourish at the same time.
Here's a quick, inexpensive and easy
packaging idea; Removing labels off empty glass jars. Relish jars, olive jars
and baby food jars all work well. Spray paint the lids with a granite spray.
Lotions package in a cobalt bottle or a brushed aluminum bottle always present
well. Or, place your cucumber cold cream in decorative bottles. For an added
touch, write the recipe on a little card and tie the recipe onto the bottle with
ribbon or raffia.
