City Purifying Shampoo - A Great Shampoo Recipe.
Living in the city can wreak havoc on your
hair. Smog, soot and engine exhaust dull and dry your hair out.
1/3 distilled water
1 tsp. lavender leaves and flowers
1 tsp. nettle
1 tsp. peppermint
1 tsp. thyme
2/3 cup liquid castile soap
1 tsp. fine sea salt
1 tsp. sweet almond oil
1 tsp. witch hazel extract
8 drops ylang-ylang essential oil
6 drops clary sage essential oil
7 drops cinnamon essential oil
To Make This Shampoo Recipe:
In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil and remove from heat. Add the lavender,
nettle, peppermint and thyme. Cover and let steep for 25 minutes. Strain and
discard the solids. Add the castile soap to the herb water, then the salt, sweet
almond oil, witch hazel, and the essential oils. Blend well, continuing to stir
as the mixture cools and thickens. When the mixture reaches room temperature,
transfer it to a container and seal tightly. If stored in a refrigerator, the
shampoo should keep for 2 weeks. Shake before using. This recipe makes
approximately 1 cup, which is enough for 4-5 shampoos. Massage about 1/4 cup of
your shampoo recipe into wet hair, lather and rinse with warm water.
You need a shampoo that is especially
effective at cleaning away the grit. This purifying shampoo is mild enough to
use every day and strong enough to wash the day right out of your hair. Feel the
rejuvenating effects of this purifying shampoo recipe.
Castile soap is made from 100 percent olive oil and is used to soften and
moisturize the hair. Castile can be found at health food stores, some drug
stores, craft stores or major department stores. This shampoo recipe is
completely natural with no added toxins, additives, chemicals,
or synthetic perfumes.
Here's a quick, inexpensive and easy
packaging idea: Removing labels off empty glass jars. Relish jars, olive jars
and baby food jars all work well. Spray paint the lids with a granite spray.
Shampoo packaged in a cobalt bottle or a brushed aluminum bottle always present
well. Or, place your purifying shampoo recipe in decorative bottles. For an
added touch, write the recipe on a little card and tie the recipe onto the
bottle with ribbon or raffia.
